ABOUT
The Coeds is a new comedy web series about three young women experiencing their freshman year in college. The talented and ambitious collaborative pair, Zoe Tamara and Viviana Vargas, produce The Coeds in the largely collegiate city of Boston. The two theatre majors at Boston University met on the same all girls floor their freshman year of college along with actress and friend Rachel Donahue whose original music is also featured in the web series.
While The Coeds certainly illustrates the woman's side of the college experience, there is something perhaps more subtle at play as well. The role of women in film has long been shadowed by a grossly disproportionate male presence both on screen and off. Vargas and Tamara, entering into a male dominated industry, are using their production not only to explore real life experiences of college women, but to create opportunities for young women in film: producing, directing, writing, editing and acting.
